How this publication works
This publication is built in an unusual way. Here is exactly what that means.
Every article here starts as real work: a device installed in a real home, an integration that had to be made to work, a measurement taken, a problem that needed solving. That work is done by Lukas Knöller. Nothing on this site is published as experience unless a human actually had it.
What the human does
Lukas Knöller runs the smart home, buys and installs the hardware, builds the automations, breaks things, fixes them, and writes down what happened. The original notes and articles are often written in German for a German-speaking audience. The observations, decisions, preferences and conclusions in an article come from that material.

What AI does
An AI editorial system supports the production of this publication. It:
- reads the original source material and identifies what it actually establishes,
- decides whether a topic is relevant beyond its original audience,
- researches external facts and keeps a record of where they came from,
- plans the structure of an article for an international readership,
- adapts the material into English rather than translating it literally,
- and runs an editorial review before anything is considered publishable.
What AI does not do
- It does not test devices. It has no hands, no home and no hardware.
- It does not invent experiences, measurements or results.
- It does not turn an uncertain observation into a confident claim.
- It does not change a technical conclusion to rank better in search.
Personal experience and external information are kept apart
A large part of the editorial process exists to keep one line visible: what was observed firsthand in one specific setup, and what comes from documentation, a vendor announcement or other external sources. External facts are attributed and linked. Firsthand experience stays bounded to the setup it came from — one appliance in one home is not a general reliability verdict.
The review step
Before an article can be published it passes an editorial review that checks factual integrity, attribution, preserved uncertainty and whether the article still says what the source material supports. An article that fails that review is not published.
Why this is disclosed on every article
Each article carries the same short note explaining that it is based on original hands-on work and was adapted with AI assistance. It appears once, at the end, and it is deliberately quiet. AI is part of how this publication is produced; it is not what the publication is about.
Human work creates the knowledge. AI helps to select, adapt and share it.
